Cub Scout Leader Specific Training
The revised Cub Scout Leader Position-Specific Training is being introduced this fall in our Council. In only three hours, new leaders are exposed to both the fun of Cub Scouting and the basic Cub Scout leader skills they need to run high-quality den, pack, and committee meetings. There is even a nodule for training pack trainers to perform their critically important duties. Two 45 minute sessions – “Introduction to Cub Scouting” and “How We Have Fun”- are followed by 1 ½ hour task-specific sessions for Tiger Cub den leaders, Wolf and Bear Cub Scout den leaders and assistants, Webelos den leaders and assistants, Cubmasters and assistants, Pack Committee Chairs and members, and Pack Trainers.

Cub Scout Leader Position-Specific Training should be the third step in training new leaders and helping them earn their “Trained” leader emblem. As of January 1, 2008, four training courses are required for leaders to earn the trained emblem: (1) Fast Start Training for their position, (2) Youth Protection Training, (3) Cub Scout Leader Position-Specific Training, and (4) New Leader Essentials (or the equivalent training upon revision of the New Leader Essentials course due in early 2009).
