SCOUTING FOR FOOD IS A BIG SUCCESS!
Thank you to all of the units that participated in our Council annual food drive – SCOUTING FOR FOOD. Through the hard work of our Scouts council-wide, we were able to collect several thousand items of food to feed our local families in Westchester and Putnam Counties. Sponsored by Commerce Bank, we turned in food to 12 different Commerce Bank branches, Putnam C.A.P. and Food Bank of Westchester.
The day turned out to be nothing but a success with cool winds, grey skies, but most importantly NO RAIN during our food collection!
Any unit that was not able to meet the October 25th deadline may turn in their food to the Council Service Center up until Thursday October 30th or into their local food pantry. In order to receive your patch you will need to log your Scouting for Food results, as well as all other service projects, at www.goodturnforamerica.org. Please contact your District Good Turn for America Chair or District Executive for your Unit ID #. All patches will be given to your District Executive for the November Roundtable. |

THE 29TH ANNUAL WILLIAM E. KELLY BOWL-O-REE TO SUPPORT SPECIAL NEEDS YOUTH
Executive Board Member Bill Kelly had the vision and desire twenty-nine years ago to organize a fundraiser to support youth with special needs. As a result of organizing each of the past twenty-eight Bowl-O-Rees, over a million dollars has been raised to support this initiative. Our in-school Champion’s program for youth with special needs is being offered to nearly 1,000 youth in the Yonkers and Mt. Vernon School Districts.
This year’s Bowl-O-Ree offers all Scouts in our Units to again enjoy a great bowling activity while raising needed funding for their unit and the Special Needs Program. This year’s Bowl-O-Ree plans are underway. The bowling locations and dates have been secured and Unit Sign-Up forms are available.

Troop 173 Yorktown Heights “Does A Good Turn” |
On Saturday, September 27th, Boy Scouts from Troop 173, chartered by St. Patrick’s Church in Yorktown Heights, ran a very successful food drive for Concourse House. Nine Scouts manned the table, outside the A&P food store located in the Triangle Center throughout the day, accepting non-perishable food from very generous Yorktown shoppers. The Scouts collected 11 boxes of food valued at over $600, as well as donations of $500 for Concourse House. Concourse House, located in the Bronx, provides both transitional and permanent housing for homeless women and their children, as well as social services programs.
