Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America!
A National Boy Scout Jamboree only happens once every four years and the next one is in 2010. The Jamboree features over 35,000 Scouts and Scouters from all over our nation engaged in ten days of fun, nonstop and unique experiences. Every Scout who attends will be able to enjoy activities such as BMX biking, climbing and rappelling, shooting sports, sailing, canoeing, fishing and the tremendous merit badge midway where every merit badge the Boy Scouts offer will be represented. Every Jamboree has activities that are only seen at this event.

Fee Payment Schedule
There are three payment plans available:

Full payment: Full payment of $1,295.00 can be made at any time, but at a minimum, the payment schedule below must be met.
Five payments: Initial Deposit:$100 -- July 1, 2009 $400 --  November 6 2009 $400 -- February 1, 2010 $200 -- April 1, 2010 $195
Monthly: Monthly payments can also be arranged. Contact us to set up a payment schedule.

Please contact the Council Service Center if these payments are a concern for your family. Please note that payment must be made with cash or check, credit cards will not be accepted. Checks are to be made out to the Westchester-Putnam Council, BSA.

Schedule
In order to affect this $300 savings in the Jamboree fee, we have eliminated the three day tour before the Jamboree. Our Scouts will be leaving on Sunday, July 25th and traveling directly to the Jamboree. They will arrive at the Jamboree site on Monday, July 26th, set up their camp sites and be ready for the official opening of the Jamboree on Tuesday. The Jamboree will close the evening of Tuesday, August 3rd. Our Scouts will return home on Wednesday, August 4th.

March 17, 2010 Update
There are only 130 days until the 2010 National Jamboree opens! Please read the following carefully as this note contains critical information for your Scout’s Jamboree experience.

Mandatory Jamboree Preparatory Weekend
All Scouts who are registered for the Jamboree with one of our four troops must attend the mandatory shakedown weekend on May 14th to 16th. The location is the Croton Point Park. Additional details regarding this weekend will be sent to you in early April. If you have scheduling concerns regarding this weekend, please contact your Scout's Jamboree Scoutmaster.

Fee Payment Schedule
All families should have paid at least a total of $1100 by February 1st. The final payment of $195 is due by April 1. It is critical that these payments be made on time so we have the resources to pay the National BSA jamboree fee for each person and purchase troop and patrol equipment. Anyone who has not made full payment by April 1st or has not contacted us regarding full payment will be dropped from the Jamboree contingent.

Please contact the Council Service Center if these payments are a concern for your family. Please note that payment must be made with cash or check, credit cards will not be accepted. Checks are to be made out to the Westchester-Putnam Council, BSA and mailed to the address below.

Medical Form
By now all of you should have received your Scout’s medical form and password from the National Council BSA in an email. The medicals are to be sent to the Council Service Center as quickly as possible. Do not follow the instructions sent with the medical that direct you to send the completed medical to your Jamboree troop Scoutmaster. Please contact us using the information below immediately if you have not received your medical form.

Swim Test Dates
Each Jamboree participant must complete a swim test. Testing will be held on April 27th, May 11th and June 1st. All tests sessions will begin at 7:00 PM at the White Plains Family YMCA, 250 Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains.

Jamboree Visitor Information
Since 1981 hundreds of thousands of Scouts and visitors have enjoyed the privilege of experiencing a Jamboree at Fort A. P. Hill!

In gratitude to our gracious host, and consistent with our "Leave No Trace" practice, we are committed to leaving the Fort pristine and beautiful. We are also committed to ensuring that Jamboree participants and visitors have necessary services available. Every visitor to this year's Jamboree will be asked to become an "Official Centennial Jamboree Supporter".

At the gates to the visitor parking area, we will be collecting a $10 donation per person per day to recover the expense of visitor support, and to aid in the restoration of the site. This will help us perform grounds clean-up, provide additional portable restrooms and sanitation stations, and enhance the many amenities and services provided for the visitors to the Jamboree. All visitors will receive the distinctive Visitor's Patch.

To help expedite arrival for vehicles carrying 8 or more people, we are encouraging councils and other large groups to send one check for $10 per person per day in advance. Please use the Visitor Information Transmittal form below. Upon receipt, a voucher and windshield placard will be sent to the designated group leader. The voucher will need to be presented to the Jamboree Welcome Team to facilitate a quick entrance using the "Easy Entry Lane" (represented as (E?) on the window placard) to the group parking area.

Encourage all of your council Scouts and Scouters who will be visiting the Jamboree to help us "Leave No Trace" and to become "Official Centennial Jamboree Supporters".

Visiting hours will be:
Tuesday, July 27, 9am to 5pm
Wednesday, July 28, 11am to 5pm
Thursday, July 29, 9am to 5pm
Friday, July 30, 9am to 5pm
Saturday, July 31, 9am to 11pm
Sunday, August 1, 1pm to 5pm
Monday, August 2, 9am to 5pm
Tuesday, August 3, 9am to 4pm

If any of your groups plan to visit on July 31, they are strongly urged to arrive as early in the day as possible. The Jamboree will be required to close the gates to the Fort when the capacity for the Arena Show is reached, and no more visitors will be able to enter the property.

Remind them of your local 100th Anniversary celebration that includes your broadcast of the 100th Anniversary Arena Show, and encourage them to visit the Jamboree on another day. Let your groups know that the Jamboree does have several retail food areas but that visitors cannot eat in the troop sites or the staff dining centers.

There is no accommodation on site for visitors including RV sites, tent areas or fixed housing. Visitors with physical disabilities are welcome and reminded that our terrain is rolling ground with no sidewalks, and that there are no bus lifts or battery charging facilities. Most visitors will walk more than 5 miles a day at the Jamboree.

When visitors arrive at Fort A. P. Hill they will be directed to the visitor parking area and to the Jamboree Welcome Center. At the Center they can get directions to regions, subcamps and visitor approved activity areas. The Jamboree areas and programs open to visitors include the Army Adventure Center, Conservation, Exhibits & Displays, 100th Anniversary Arena Show, Venturing, 2013 Jamboree display, Technology Quest, Brownsea Island, Disabilities Awareness, Amateur Radio as well as the Trading Posts, Scout Shop and food outlets.

The areas reserved for the Jamboree participants are not open for visitor participation. They include the four regional Action Centers and Stage Shows, all subcamp activities, Mysterium Compass, Boating, Scuba, Swimming, Snorkeling, Camp Thunder, Fishing and the Merit Badge Midway.

Questions may be sent to jamboreeinformationservices@scouting.org.
